AASCEND's annual conference celebrating International Asperger's Year was a great success, representing the first nationwide summit of adult peer-centered autism support groups, including representatives of AASCEND, AUTASTICS, GRASP, AANE, ANI, AAGW, AGUA, Portland ASSG, Asperger's Society, and others. Congratulations all! See AASCEND.net for details.

Paul Nussbaum, a long-time member of the Autastics, successfully led a ski expedition across the Sierra in winter 2006 as a means to publicize the needs (and abilities!) of adults on the autism spectrum, and to raise funds for a California summer camp for young people on the autism spectrum. Check here for details and a live record of the Conquering Heights Expedition!

The Autastics participated in a research study on job supports and the results are now out in the Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation (Vol.18 No.3).   Click here to see the paper, and here to read the job support recommendations from people on the autism spectrum.
